TORONTO POLICE SERVICES BOARD BY-LAW NUMBER 161
A By-Law to Govern the Proceedings of the Toronto Police Services Board and its Committees<\/h3>\n
\n

1. PREAMBLE<\/p>\n

1.1 Subsection 27(1) of the Police Services Act provides that there will be a police services board for every municipality that maintains a police force.<\/p>\n

1.2 Section 37 of the Police Services Act provides that a board will establish its own rules and procedures in performing its duties under the Act.<\/p>\n

1.3 The Toronto Police Services Board wants to establish rules governing the conduct of its meetings and other related matters.<\/p>\n

1.4 The Toronto Police Services Board wants to ensure that those rules reflect the principles of accessibility, responsiveness and accountability to the community, fairness, respect and full debate in the conduct of its meetings and flexibility in responding to changing circumstances at meetings of the Board.<\/p>\n

1.5 The Toronto Police Services Board wants to ensure that the application and interpretation of the procedural rules contained in this by-law are consistent with the principles set out above.<\/p>\n
